The location is really good. It is a short walk (slight uphill) to North Hobart (so many restaurant choices) or slight downhill to Hobart CBD. The rooms are spacious and well decorated with lovely furniture. There is a large guest lounge with books which has a lovely old English charm. There is a microwave available for use in the dining room. The back garden is very peaceful. The hotel was easy to find, and has a set of stairs coming up from Elizabeth Street and another entrance way directly onto Warwick Street (where you can park using a permit from the hotel) once you have your keys, which also has steps up. The room was very quiet overnight and the Wi-Fi worked well.

It was a last minute booking and yet the owner warmly welcomed us. We stayed at a spa room and the bathtub was big and clean, and I really liked the high ceilings. I have to mention, they had make-up removers as amenities and I was surprised cause you don't find them very often in Australia. The electric blankets really helped us at night. The garden and the lobby were pretty too. Parking was easy for us since it was on weekends but it might be hard on weekdays. We used rental scooters to get to the Salamanca market for fun, it took us about 25 mins. We really enjoyed our stay!

The property and furniture are quite old, but everything functions well. The room was very comfortable and we can also use the facilities and lounge and dining room. What impressed me most was the friendliness of Jeff and Julie. Instead of staying at a hotel, it was like we were staying at grandparents' house. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk to the CBD. Around the hotel, there are also many restaurants from various foreign countries.

I enjoyed the heritage feel of the property and the calm, quiet atmosphere. My room was lovely and I appreciated being upgraded from the ‘little’ room (although that would have been fine). The hosts were very friendly and helpful and I will certainly book there again if I make a return trip. I was also glad to find residence parking alongside the hotel (I may have missed that information in my original booking). Thank you! Jill

This hotel provides a revisiting to a world no longer possible. A guest lounge with complimentary glass of port or tea and coffee A manager who was more than welcoming and gracious when we arrived. The hotel is located perfectly in the North Hobart food precinct with options available from so many local and international eateries. We could not be happier and highly recommend this hotel to all visiting Hobart.
